Saoirse is a psychometrist—able to glimpse the memories stored in objects with a single touch. It’s a powerful gift, but not one she dares advertise. The last thing she needs is to be labeled a monster. Only Katherine, The Cauldron’s self-proclaimed witch and Saoirse’s boss, knows the truth. Though Saoirse’s gift would undoubtedly draw customers, Katherine respects her decision to keep it hidden.
After all, Saoirse has more than her own secret to protect. Her best friend, Niamh, is a pooka—a shapeshifting troublemaker who would be carted off for scientific study if anyone discovered her.
For the most part, Saoirse’s life is quiet. The customers who wander into The Cauldron are usually seeking tarot readings or incense, and its odd trinkets rarely cause a stir. But that changes when a girl buys an expensive knife rumored to ward off werewolves. She doesn’t blink at the price, and something about her feels… off.
