Spring is here…

Something I love about where I live is the seasons. Spring and fall can often be shorter than perhaps I’d like, but maybe that just means I should appreciate them more.

There’s a lot going on in the world, and I honestly find it overwhelming. I always find it overwhelming because there’s always a lot going on, but things are… different now. Nothing stays the same, so of course I feel that way, but…

I wish I had answers, could know what actions I should take for a brighter future, but I’m just human. I can’t change the past, see the future. All I can do is exist and act in the present, and that’s always been hard for me. I’ve constantly lived for a future where I hoped everything would be stable and good, but that simply isn’t life. There will be good times and bad times. Things I believe in today may not be things I believe in tomorrow.

Life is change.

Despite acknowledging that, knowing that, I hope to always remember to be kind. When I do something wrong, I want to be quick to apologize and do better. When fear of an uncertain future paralyzes me from doing the things I love and I start to wonder if they even matter, I’m going to remind myself that they do matter to me and are therefore worth something, however small that something might be. I need to remember that my books have brought happiness to more people than I ever could have imagined and that the new stories I write have the potential to do the same, to maybe even reach more people.

My journey isn’t over yet, and neither is yours. Let’s learn and grow and live the best way we know how to. Let’s be true to ourselves, kind to others, and appreciate the good things we have.

Please enjoy the following spring pictures. The kitty lives in my neighborhood and is always happy to give me lots of loves when we meet on my walks. I’m very grateful for this little furry friend!
