Week 5 – Taking a Break

Current projects

Queen of Werewolves – The Lost Princess of Howling Sky Book 3

Well, I didn’t get anything done here because I took time off for Kingdom Hearts III, got sick, read some books. But rest assured, it’s coming along. Also, I started it a while back, so I’ve already got a few scenes written. Everything is outlined! When I get back to it next week, I’ll be busting my butt to get that first draft down.

I kind of can’t believe this series is ending. It’s special in a big way for me. I’ve finished series before, Marked by the Moon and The Holiday Shifter Mates, but they were a very different kind of series. Each of those books work as standalones, but The Lost Princess of Howling Sky books do not. I find the more words I give to a story, to specific characters, the more attached I become. Endings feel bigger.

It’s like that as a reader and a writer. Wouldn’t you say? It’s time. The more time you give something, living things included, the more it becomes a part of you.

Once Soulmates – These Immortal Vows Book 3

I hit 446 words for the first draft this week. Other than that, I don’t have much to say.

The timeline for this story is a complete mess. I’ll have to tackle it after the first draft. I know when I outlined this book, I took the timeline into account, but I need to find a way to reorganize it so it isn’t such a hassle to find what I need.

About Gender Identity – YA book

I’m going to pull this one from my production list. I’ve decided working on three books at once is inviting insanity. I want to give more time to Once Soulmates as well. I have two writing slots. One is BIG. It’s for my “commercial” books. They get the majority of my time.

The other slot is small, but it’s just as important. It’s for the books made for no other reason than they’re stories I need to tell. Hopefully, there are a handful of people out there who need to hear them too.

This story isn’t going away. It’s just going to sleep for a little while. It’s a story that needs to be told just as much as Once Soulmates. Its time will come.

Blind to Love – audiobook

Well, I have an awesome cold currently, so recording is out of the question. I still want to do it, but I don’t think I’ll get to it next week either.

Hang in there, little audiobook. I still want to record you.

Conclusion

Kingdom Hearts III was something else, and I’m trying to sort through my feelings. A couple tears were shed. I’m trying to pick up my pieces, but this story has been a part of me for, well, a long freaking time. It’s like what I was saying about The Lost Princess of Howling Sky. Goodbyes are hard. But there’s also catharsis to be found. I finally got the closure I had been craving.

Oh, and the song I wrote for Valentine’s Day Tigers is also in limbo (as in, it’s not gonna get recorded for a while), but I’ll be back with more information about that eventually.
